You know, looking at my post two days later, the thing that strikes me is how little I said about antisemitism, which is sort of the most glaringly obvious thing about the Dreyfus Affair.

The Dreyfus Affair convinced a lot of European Jews that the attempt to assimilate was pointless. My understanding is that this provided an important impetus to Zionism. And so in this respect, the Dreyfus Affair played a huge role in shaping the contemporary world.
