A goof is a rat or skin beefer (sex crime of any sort) and other such things... It has nothing to do with being a "skinhead" in any way as stated above. I think that was a mere non-intentional mis-statement or a personal grudge by *Bobby 09-Aug-09 at 1:46 am*

A bird is also a rat, a bird chirps...

Weeeeeeell, 1) "recently" is pretty vague. Could mean "within the last few years" and 2) it gets it's meaning from the context here, which includes the date stamp of the post.

it's all about where the post appears on the blog. archived posts can be expected to sometimes be out of date. when the post is on top, i would think that "recent" means recent

I've just inherited these of a mate who has replaced them after many, many years of faultless service.... The only reason he bought new ones is because the leather effect was crumbling away from the foam and just leaving a huge mess all over you once used..

I did tell him that he could replace the sponges, but he found a cheap as chips replacement at a discount store, Hence I got the Sony's.. and a week later my cheap Chinese knock off Replacement foams have shown up.. £3 well spent... That's assuming they don't now decide to let go like yours did..

They're a but Dull though, aint they? Not much in the way of hi frequencies till ya crank the treble.. maybe these ones are just worn.

"A similar burden does not fall on a critic of the war in my opinion. This is because the default position on killing other human beings is to not do it."

Hmmm. Another default position (albeit not as grave as the "if in doubt, don't kill" one) is "don't criticize what you don't understand". And for some real nit-picking, advocating (or approving of) killing people (aka war) isn't exactly the same as actually killing them.

So I don't really get the basis of the double-standard for advocating/opposing war. Stuff happens in the world and people take positions (or don't) for or against stuff. I would certainly hope that the intensity etc. of the positions people take would be proportionate to both the issue's importance and their knowledge thereof.

I think if Obama decided to bomb Portugal in the morning people who don't know their Iberia from their asshole would be well-founded in their default anti-war position. But when there is an obvious (not necessarily convincing) case for war (as is the case in Libya) then I think your knowledge bar is unreasonably high to be a mere "supporter" of the war - publishing op-eds etc. is another matter of course.

I purchased some headphones from sony, paid 65 dollars for them and the vinyl coating started to crumble, they are only 10 months old. They told me without a receipt I could send them in for repair and that would cost 97 dollars, what a joke, I will never, ever purchase a Sony product again, They Suck

That's not nitpicking. That's a really good point. OK, let's add those countries to the list. (When I wrote the post, I was sort of thinking about Gaddafi's history of meddling in Chad and Sudan, and how that history might be a complicating factor in a Libyan civil war.)

Without peeking at a map, a supporter of the war should be able to name Libya’s six neighbours, and explain how the war is likely to affect each of them—and, how each of them is likely to affect the war, and its aftermath.

not to nitpick, but it looks like you're only counting the 6 countries with direct land borders with libya. i would argue that two other countries (malta and italy) have a lot at stake here too. italy was already flooded with refugees from tunisia's much more peaceful revolution. and because the great majority of libyans live along the coast the connections along sea routes are arguably more important than, say, the border with niger along depopulated empty desert. (see e.g. this map of population density)
