I always thought that this site, devoted entirely to making fun of New York Times Wedding announcements, was hilarious. Such wicked and clever fun! But I actually went to this wedding yesterday, and somehow the joke just isn't as funny when it's people you know.
Posted by Chris at April 4, 2005 10:30 PMSorry about that. I thought they seemed nice, for what it's worth.
Posted by: Zach at April 6, 2005 12:08 AMNo, on second thought I was just being a dork.
Posted by: Chris at April 6, 2005 08:05 AMFor what it's worth, I don't think that Zach was up to his best on this take. He could barely find anything mockable in the article, and therefore this was not one of his snarkier dissections of the couple. He got sidetracked by singers' facial expressions; most of the comments following the article went the same route.
Congratulations to the couple. They sound charming and unpretentious.
Posted by: Ereshkigal at April 7, 2005 11:14 AMYeah, I agree. And, as I said, on second thought it was a bit dorky to take issue wit it.
Posting this wasn't a complete loss though. I actually had a friend write me to thank me for tipping him off to such a funny site.
